Scottish Enterprise (SE) is Scotland’s national economic development agency. We help Scottish businesses to grow nationally and internationally, to become more efficient and innovative, and to access the funds they need to develop. We also attract overseas companies to invest in Scotland.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant with broad management accounting experience to lead a team in our Corporate Planning and Performance department.

The difference you'll make

Managing a team of qualified accountants and finance professionals, you’ll support senior colleagues in steering SE towards a balanced budget position, staying focused on our financial objectives at all times.

Responsibilities will include identifying and assessing the risks we face, formulating budget plans, and monitoring all income sources that underpin our business plan.

You’ll play a key role in the ongoing development of SE’s financial reporting framework, including developing tailored reports on the different layers of our operation.

As a key point of contact in our organisation, you’ll liaise with staff across SE and beyond. You’ll be instrumental in responding to wide-ranging financial requests from external parties, including the Scottish Government, and responding to Freedom of Information requests when needed.

The qualities you'll bring

Drawing on extensive management accounting experience, as well as an understanding of International Accounting Standards and the public sector financial framework in which we operate, you will lead your team with confidence.

You’re comfortable with complexity, tackling problems with an analytical mindset and incisive knowledge of your field. You’re also a natural communicator and collaborator, approaching situations tactfully whether you’re providing support to senior management or offering guidance to your team.

You must be a member of a Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) institute, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants or an overseas equivalent.
